Rates
- $115.00 initial fee (covers up to two hours)
- $50.00 per hour thereafter
- $120.00 initial fee for other interpreters
- $52.00 per hour thereafter
Exceptions and Additional Fees
Differential rates for platform, legal, deaf-blind (tactile), or otherwise more demanding assignments will be negotiated at the time a request is made. Concerts and performances are negotiated per assignment and not per hour.
Travel Time Charges
A charge of 1/2 the negotiated hourly rate (multiplied by the number of actual travel hours) may be applied to assignments requiring more than 1.5 hours of travel time one way. This charge is an effort to ensure that I may continue to accept assignments that are within a shorter travel radius, but still require extra travel time due to the worsening traffic congestion in the Metro DC area.
Travel outside of the Metro DC area
Assignments requiring more than 2 hours of driving or more than 100 miles will be negotiated at a day rate. Expenses for travel and lodging will be reimbursed at cost.
Reimbursable Charges
I do not charge for mileage, parking, tolls, trains, or metro. However, if I contract other interpreters for your assignment these charges may apply and will be negotiated at the time of contract.
Coverage
Assignments over two hours long generally require a second interpreter. I can personally arrange for this at the rates quoted above or provide you with referrals.
Short Notice Fee
A $40.00 fee may be added to requests made with less than three business days’ notice.
Cancellations and No-Shows
Cancellations made less than two business days before the beginning of the assignment are considered untimely and will be billed. Assignments extending more than two days in length will only be charged for the two-day period. No-Shows are billed without exception.
Inclement Weather Policy
I have taken effort to ensure that I am prepared to handle all manner of inclement weather. I will cancel without cost only when a weather emergency has been officially declared by the local authorities. Cancellations due to inclement weather will be billed unless otherwise negotiated.
Payment Terms
Net due 30 days from the invoice date. Invoices paid late will be assessed an additional 5.0% for each additional 30 day period. As of May 17, 2005, I am pleased to announce that I can accept credit card payments in person or over the phone.
